What Is My Writing All About? I find most of my inspiration for stories and research comes from the simple things in life I see and experience that lead me to question myself and my life. At one point I thought my experiences were ordinary compared to the rest of mankind. Then, I realized perhaps there were some unique experiences I should write about before I die. Most of my manuscripts begin with an event or a conversation, or a picture. My mind goes into overdrive when I begin writing my impressions or describe my feelings. Sometimes I can write for hours with short breaks, and other times I write for a half an hour and then get up and pace around the house, constructing new thoughts as I pace, fitting together the puzzles that arise, as my soul seeks to explain itself in conscious reality via written words. I spend a lot of time in musuems that hold ancient artifacts, research ancient manuscripts and tie together the symbology found in the art and architecture from ancient and medieval epochs. The mystery behind the mystery fuels my research for my work, currently. The last few years, my travels have taken me toHopi Kivas, Medici palaces, Black Madonna cultural sites, and ancient Mediterranean ports. Am I one of the few tourists who spent a week in the city of Vesuvius? I explored the ancient ruins, imagining what it was like for those remaining human forms, on display, caught in the lava flow, during their daily activity. Writing for hours a day and researching seems to be my lot in life. Following the clues my mind and heart are drawn to as the puzzles begin to take form. On the average I write 4 hours a day, and research another 4. I eat when hungry and do not answer phones when writing. I should add that I do not feel guilty about not answering the phones, as losing a thought, to answer the phone, stops my flow and destroys my writing cadence like a tsunami hitting my pen. Yes, I do write a lot with pen and paper, as my thoughts flow differently, than they do on my keyboard. If you want to talk about your writing patterns, you can e-mail me at: writingwoman@myway.com. I live in the Pacific Northwest, USA. I travel a lot, since my avocation is nature photography and traveling, throughout the world, when I get the urge. | ||||||||||||
